NCETM Teaching for Mastery School
As a school, we have worked with the Central Maths Hub since 2017 to develop teaching for mastery in our school and beyond. Victoria Tuck, our Assistant Headteacher, is a Primary Mastery Specialist and Professional Development Lead for Central Maths Hub. To find out more about the Hub, please visit their website:
As a teaching for mastery school, we strive to achieve the following key principles in our lessons:
What are TRGs?
As a school, we work collaboratively with teachers from other schools hosting Teacher Research Groups.
Each TRG is led by a Primary Mastery Specialist and involves 12 teachers. There are teachers from a variety of partner schools, all of whom share our desire to be exceptional. The TRG meets every half term to focus on elements of teaching for mastery. The TRG meeting includes a pre-lesson discussion; lesson observation, and post-lesson discussion; a real opportunity to engage in high-quality, sustained, collaborative professional development and participate in an important national project.
