Pupil and Family Support
Family Support and 'Early Help' at Holywell
At Holywell Primary & Nursery School we recognise the challenges that families face in bringing up children. There may be times when you need extra help and support, whatever the reason might be. If this is the case please come and talk to us. There are many ways in which we can help, either using our own specialists or accessing Early Help services available through the local authority. The Thrive Approach
Lead Thrive Practitioners: Mrs E Linton and Mrs C Swalwell
What does it take to develop healthy, happy, confident children who are ready and open to learning? Recent advances in neuroscience, attachment theory and child development have provided some of the answers to this question.
The Thrive Approach draws on insights from these fields to provide a powerful way of working with children and young people that supports optimal social and emotional development. In addition, the Approach helps us to work in a targeted way with children and young people who may have struggled with difficult life events to help them re-engage with life and learning.
Bereavement Support
At Holywell, we seek bereavement support for pupils and their families from Touchstones charity. After obtaining consent for a referral, Touchstones contact the family and liaise with school to arrange a time and space for support sessions with pupils to take place.

Holywell’s pastoral team, work in partnership with pupils and their families experiencing loss and bereavement. Regular communication between home and school is developed to support families individual needs. In addition to external support, pupils can access nurture sessions to help understand and deal with their feelings, supporting re-engagement back into school routine. Pupil’s progress and well-being is continually monitored, with thoughtful consideration given to special occasions and events. Where desired, anniversaries and birthdays of loved ones are sensitively and loving celebrated through the use of art and creativity.
