PSHE helps children develop the knowledge and skills they need to stay healthy, keep themselves safe and build positive relationships. They learn how to make informed choices, manage their emotions and understand the importance of kindness, responsibility and respect.
The curriculum helps children grow in confidence and understand how their actions affect themselves and others. It is inclusive and celebrates the diversity of our community so every child feels represented and valued. Through thoughtful teaching children learn about health, friendships, feelings and life in the wider world.
PSHE is taught weekly by class teachers through a carefully sequenced programme built around three themes: Health and Wellbeing, Relationships and Living in the Wider World. Learning builds progressively each year so children revisit and deepen key ideas. Some content is also taught through science, computing and assemblies to strengthen links across the curriculum.
Lessons are engaging and age appropriate. Children take part in discussions, stories, scenarios and activities that help them apply their learning to real life situations. Assessment is ongoing. Teachers use pupil voice, class floorbooks and observation to understand how well children are developing their knowledge and skills. Leaders review provision regularly to ensure lessons remain meaningful and impactful.
