Year 1 Jump Rope

This week, year 1 children have taken part in a Jump Rope workshop where they have learned different skipping techniques. They all thoroughly enjoyed themselves and some were excellent skippers.

1WW have started Forest School

We have had a lot of fun this afternoon on our first forest school trip. We had a good look around the area, went on a ‘bear hunt’, had hot chocolate and biscuits and used the forest school equipment. Can you spot us in the photographs giving the oak tree a big hug!

Weather forecasters

As part of our topic work, we have become weather forecasters this week. We looked carefully at weather around the world and even acted out some weather forecasts of our own. We are hoping for lots of sunshine!

Y1 Learn their Number Bonds

We have been learning all about number bonds in maths this week.  We made paper chains to show the number bonds to 10. We love singing this song!

Dear Zoo

This week in English we have been reading and retelling the story Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell. We had lots of fun acting the story out.  We then wrote our own version and shared our stories with our friends.

Mini beast hunting in year 1.

We have had great fun searching for mini beasts in forest school as part of our science project. We took our clip boards and magnifying glasses and found lots of amazing creatures!

How do polar bears keep warm?

Today we investigated the question ‘How do polar bears keep warm?’  We all thought that it was because they have a thick fur coat.  To find out we put a thick warm glove on our hands and plunged it into a bowl of icy water.  It did not feel warm!  The gloves got wet...
