After reading ‘The Way Back Home’ by Oliver Jeffers in English and seeing the walkie talkie the Martian sent the boy in the story, we decided to make our own string telephones. we had great fun investigating how they worked.  .

Year 1 Investigate Toys From the Past

We had great fun in year 1 this week investigating toys from the past; what they were made from and how they worked. There were cup and balls, spinning tops, Jacks, diablos, pick up sticks to name a few.

Father Christmas visits Year 1

Because we have worked hard all term, a special guest visited Year 1 today!  We even heard his sleigh bells as he drove his sleigh off the roof.

Meet our Stick People!

We have been enjoying reading Stickman by Julia Donaldson this week.  Today we designed and made our own stick people.  I wonder what ordeals they may face in the classroom tomorrow?

Year 1 Jump Rope

This week, year 1 children have taken part in a Jump Rope workshop where they have learned different skipping techniques. They all thoroughly enjoyed themselves and some were excellent skippers.

1WW have started Forest School

We have had a lot of fun this afternoon on our first forest school trip. We had a good look around the area, went on a ‘bear hunt’, had hot chocolate and biscuits and used the forest school equipment. Can you spot us in the photographs giving the oak tree a big hug!

Weather forecasters

As part of our topic work, we have become weather forecasters this week. We looked carefully at weather around the world and even acted out some weather forecasts of our own. We are hoping for lots of sunshine!
