We had a brilliant day experiencing what life was like for children during Victorian times. We spent the morning looking at various different Victorian artefacts and making our own Victorian scrapbooks. Our classroom was turned into a Victorian classroom and we got to experience reading, writing, arithmetic and religious education. Mr Murphy, our Victorian teacher, talked to us about punishments. These included the cane, finger stocks and dunces hat. We also got to write with an ink pen and write on a slate board with a carbon pencil. In the afternoon we went into the hall to play with lots of different Victorian toys. We finished the day by making our own Union Jack flags and singing the National anthem whilst waving our flags in the air. What a fantastic day!
