Year 5 parents and pupils got the chance to link our space and science topics when we investigated rockets. We all had a lot of fun as we made and flew a selection of exploding canisters, balloon rockets, space helicopters, stomp rockets, water rockets and wind powered cars.
Parents and pupils constructed rockets of their own design to enter in the ‘Stomp Rocket’ competition at the end of the afternoon.
By the end of the afternoon, the rocket of Lucas McConkey and his very competitive father shot to victory.
Everyone involved agreed that the afternoon really took off and provided a great thrust to the children,s education. One parent described the afternoon as ‘Out of this world’ and commented that it must have taken a long time to ‘planit’. There was a great atmosphere and we all got home in time for Countdown.
